We are 1 week away from Noodles and Numbers - our first ALL FREE event of the year!! Join us on Friday, September 14 from 5-8 pm!! Start the night with a free pasta dinner (from 5-6 pm), a super quick (we promise!) PTO meeting & follow up with a fun night of math games for all ages (from 6-8 pm), thanks to our friends at Mathnasium. Research shows that family engagement leads to greater student success, so start your year off right! Want more information on what math night is? Check out this video to see how much fun one Tampa area school had!
RSVP to save your spot at the table (all are welcome - this event is for all WCES families). RSVP Is not required, but if you think you're going to come, please let us know so we can make sure we have enough food and goodies for everyone!!: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0d48a8af29a7f94-wces
** We need volunteers to make this night a success! (Teens needing volunteer hours are welcome!)
Spring Break is upon us and probably the last thing you want to think about is FSA Testing (right?!). BUT We really do need your help. The school is required to have a certain number of monitors for testing for our students and there are still gaps that need to be filled. Can you spare 2-3 hours of a day? This is the easiest volunteer job you'll ever have. You come and make sure no funny business is happening during testing. You might help grab a new sharp pencil for someone... but really, that's about as hard as it gets!! Please consider volunteering your time and know that it is GREATLY appreciated by those trying to meet testing goals.

Calling all volunteers!! Our annual Daddy Daughter Dance is next Friday, February 23rd and we need you! This is one of our biggest events and is such a wonderful memory for all of our girls and their dads (or special someone).
As always, we’ll have raffle baskets, a photo booth keepsake, lots of desserts to enjoy and an amazing DJ playing music for everyone to boogie down! The deadline for discounted pre-sale tickets and corsages has passed but you can still pay at the door if you plan to attend! (Sorry, no corsages for sale at the door)
Door prices: $12 for Daddy/Daughter duo and $5 for each additional daughter.
Here’s the link for our volunteer signup genius. This is a great event for any volunteer hours needed at school, too (this includes middle or high school students needing hours...) These events are a LOT of work (but so much fun!) and are next to impossible without the help of our village!! Many hands make light work - so please consider joining us!
It's the time of year - time to apply to join the Wards Creek PTO Executive Board! You can check out the positions open and read more about each job by visiting this document.
Applications can be downloaded here. They must be submitted to the school in a sealed envelope labeled ATTN: PTO PRESIDENT. Applications are due by February 16, 2018 at 6 PM. If you are interested in serving for the upcoming school year, please consider applying to join the board! Also an important note - list all of the job roles you'd consider serving in. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the school and we're not going to lie - we have a good time on the PTO Board :) You will make some amazing friends & have an inside view of all the hard work that it takes to make a successful PTO! We might be biased, but it's a great volunteer job!
If you have any questions, please email Ann Gillette, PTO President at WardsCreekPTO@gmail.com.
Greetings PTO Members! The Wards Creek Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is currently recruiting members for this year’s slating committee. What’s a slating committee, you ask? In a nutshell, every year the PTO Board is made up of volunteers (both parents & teachers/staff) who apply for a board position. In order to streamline the election process, our bylaws state that a slating/nominations committee helps read applications for board positions and recommends one person for each position. Here’s how the whole process works.
Step 1: A slating (nominations) committee is formed with a minimum of 5 members - at least 2 (outgoing) board members and 3 current PTO Members make up the board. The current PTO Board will choose the members of the slating committee from a pool of applicants.
Step 2: A call for applications is made – anyone interested in serving on the PTO Board next year is asked to submit an application.
Step 3: During the month of February, the slating committee meets to review applications for Board positions.
Step 4: At the March general PTO membership meeting, the slating committee officially recommends 1 applicant per position for next year’s PTO Board.
Step 5: At the April general PTO Membership meeting, these applicants are voted on by the general PTO membership. At that time, any person who was not slated for a position, but desires to run, may be nominated from the floor to run against a slated position.
Step 6: In the month of May, all board members voted in by the general PTO membership enter into a month of transition with the current board. At the end of the school year, the new board takes over and starts planning for next year!
If you are interested in serving on the PTO Slating (Nominations) Committee to help with the 2018-2019 PTO Board Member elections, please use this form to apply by 12 noon on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. You must be a member in good standing (remember when you joined PTO at the beginning of the school year and got that handy dandy discount card?? That means you're a member with currently paid dues! If you're not sure, you can always email us to ask....) You must also not be planning to run for a board position this year.
Serving on the slating committee will generally entail 1 (possibly 2) afternoon or evening meetings (depending on committee member availability) during the month of February. It is a very small time commitment. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at WardsCreekPTO@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued support of the PTO and we appreciate your willingness to serve!
Wards Creek Elementary PTO's biggest fundraiser this year will be the Boosterthon Fun Run. No doubt, you've heard a LOT about it from your Warrior - and tomorrow is the big day! Unfortunately, it's going to be FRIGID in the morning, and for the safety of all of our students, we will not be running outside, rather participating in 35 super fun indoor activities instead!! If you're planning to volunteer, you are still needed/welcome/appreciated, so come early to grab a great spot to watch and cheer.
The schedule is as follows:
8:50 AM: ESE, Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades
10:00 AM: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades
We will be in the cafe - we hope you can join us for this awesome celebration. All of your hard work has paid off!! We will be able to make some amazing upgrades to WCES all because of your support of the Warriors! THANK YOU!!!
The holiday lunch is back at WCES and we are in need of some awesome parent volunteers to help serve food to our Warriors and their families. Can you spare 30 minutes or an hour? If you’re going to be at school anyway, find out from your child’s teacher what time the class eats - then pick a time slot before or after to give back to your school.

Thank you for your help!
You know about Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday... but do you know about Giving Tuesday!? It's a day, after all that shopping, to stop and give a little back! We are SO appreciative of our Warrior Families and we thought we would share some ways you can give back to your school, should you feel so inclined!
The Wards Creek PTO is made up of parent volunteers and staff members at Wards Creek Elementary in St. Augustine, Florida.
